The Basics of Electronic Mail

What spamming is

Spamming is sending a single, unsolicited email message or multiple copies of an unsolicited email message to many newsgroups or email addresses at the same time. It may even be considered spamming to send one unsolicited email to a single email address. In addition, many noncommercial groups consider posting commercial notices to be spamming. Spamming usually occurs because an individual or organization purchases or otherwise acquires a list of email addresses and sends out a bulk email to this list.
