As
we mentioned earlier, when numbers are entered in
a cell, they will automatically be displayed in the
right side of the cell. Also, numbers will be displayed
in a specific format (e.g. 56.54). If you wish to
modify the number of decimal places or to change the
currency format, you will have to use another command.
We will explain that later in the lesson and how to
modify the appearance of numbers in a worksheet.
Enter
these numbers in the cells indicated:
B3
= 15.99
C4
= 89.50
D4
= 4.85
E4
= 16.45
When
you enter the value 89.50, the zero will not be displayed
since Excel automatically rounds off values
ending in zero.
Your
table should look like this:

Entering
Date and Time
Excel
consider date and time as numeric value, which means
mathematical calculation are possible with dates and
times.
Valid
format are :
1/3/99,
3-Jun-99
3-Jun
: In this case Excel assumes current year.
Jun-99
: Excel assumes first day of month.
: Displays current time.
: Displays date in mm/dd/yy format
