An interesting extension of text formatting is the ability to attach text to a path. The procedure is very straightforward. You simply select both a path and a block of text that you have created and navigate you way to "Text/Attach to Path".  You can adjust the orientation of text that has been attached to a path by selecting "Text/Orientation". Experiment with the options to see if you get an effect that you like.
