The
Info Panel provides the user with reference information
that is essential to the design process.
The
Panel is separated into four sections. The information
in the fields in the top left corner correspond to
the pixel dimensions, in width and height, of any
selection or shape that you create on your screen.
The
top right corner of the info panel provides you with
the coordinates, in pixels, of the top right corner
of your selection or shape, otherwise known as the
Index Point. The figures you see in the fields
relate to the horizontal (X) and vertical (Y) axis
of your image with the top left hand corner as
the point of origin (0,0). This information is
useful if you need to accurately place objects on
your screen.
The
bottom left hand corner of the Info Panel provides
you with the RGB color information for whichever pixel
your cursor happens to be sitting on when you drag
it into your Document Window. This information is
given to you in Hexadecimal, the standard format for
color display in HTML. The section also provides you
with figures for a fourth channel, labeled "A" for
alpha, that allows for transparency in an image. This
section is useful if you need to accurately record
color information for use at a later date.
In
the bottom right hand corner of the Info Panel you
will find our last source of essential information. This
section provides you with the X and Y co-ordinates
for the location of your cursor as it sits on the
screen at the present time.
Try
importing a document into Fireworks and moving the
cursor around the Document Window. This will give
you an opportunity to observe how the figures in the
Info panel change depending on your cursors location
and the tool you are using.
