Add bullets or numbering to text
1.
Select the text or placeholder you want to add bullets
or numbering to.
2. Do one of the following:
To add bullets, click Bullets .
To add numbers, click Numbering .
Notes
· You can also start a numbered list by typing.
First, press BACKSPACE to remove any bullets at the
beginning of the line. Next, type a number one (1),
letter A or a, or roman numeral one (I or i) followed
by a period or closing parenthesis. Type the text
you want after the letter or number and then press
ENTER to start a new line. The numbering continues
automatically.
· To change the default settings for bullets or numbering,
make the changes on the slide master.
¨ Remove or interrupt bullets and numbering
Select the text or placeholder you want to remove
bullets or numbers from.
Click Bullets
or Numbering

· You can also press BACKSPACE to remove a bullet
or numbering from an item in a list.
· PowerPoint automatically adjusts the number sequence
of a numbered list.
· If you want to reorganize the elements of the list
after removing bullets or numbering, use the
Promote and
Demote buttons on the Formatting toolbar.
¨ Change the size or color of bullets or numbering
1. Select the text or placeholder whose bullets
or numbering you want to change.
2. On the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering,
and then and then click the tab for the type of list
you want to modify.

To change the size of the bullets or numbers, enter
a percentage in the Size box.
4. To change the color of the bullets or numbers,
click the arrow next to Color and then do one of the
following:

To change to the default color, click Automatic.
¨ Change the appearance of the bullet
1. Select the text or placeholder whose bullet character
you want to change.
2. On the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering.
3. Do one of the following:

To
use one of the default bullet characters, click the
character you want on the Bulleted tab. To choose
a different bullet character, click Character, and
then choose the font and character you want.
To use a picture as the bullet, click Picture, and
then locate and select the picture you want.

Note
If you have the Clip Gallery installed, it appears
when you click Picture. From the Clip Gallery, you
can choose from a set of built-in images for bullets.
If you don’t have the Clip Gallery installed, the
Insert Picture dialog box appears when you click Picture.
From there, you can specify any picture
file for use as a bullet.
To change to a color in the color scheme, click one
of the eight colors below Automatic.
To change to a color that isn’t in the color scheme,
click More Colors. On the Standard tab, click the
color you want, or click the Custom tab to mix your
own color, and then click OK.
Note If you used a picture as a bullet character,
you might not be able to change its color with this
procedure. Open the picture in a graphics program,
such as Microsoft Photo Editor, change the colors,
save the picture, and then reapply the picture as
the bullet in PowerPoint.
