Inserting and Editing Text

You can add text to a slide. You can also change the text to adapt it to the contents of the slide. Changes in your text can affect the font size, type of font (Roman, Gothic, etc.), colour and font style (italic, bold, underline, shadow).
First, you will learn how to insert text. Then, we will show you how to make changes to your text.
Display your first slide. You will be inserting a title in the box containing the phrase “Click to Add Title.” Click inside the box. The phrase “Click to Add Title” disappears and is replaced with a flashing vertical bar. By default, the text will be centered.
Enter the following text: THE BIDS.
When you have finished entering your text, click outside the box. The box will disappear, leaving only the text on screen, as illustrated in the following figure:

The layout template you have selected for your first slide allows you to add a subtitle.
Click on the box containing the phrase “Click to Add Subtitle” to enter the following phrase on the first line: Prepared by. On the second line, add your name. To move to the second line, press ENTER or RETURN after the first line. Click outside the box to exit the Insert Text mode.
Your slide should now look like this:

¨ Editing Text
As mentioned earlier, you can change the way your text looks. In the next exercise, you will edit your text, enlarge the font, change the style and colour of the font, and use other special effects like bold and italic. 
Follow these steps to make changes to your text:

Exercise:

a) Edit the text so as to change the word “BIDS” to “BIRDS”. 
Click on the text box in which the word “BIDS” is written. 
Move the cursor with thedirection arrow until the cursor is positioned after the letter I, or use the mouse and click immediately to the right of the letter I.
Type the letter R. You will notice that you are in the Insert mode and that the letters D and S moved automatically to the right.
Click outside the text box.
b) Now, let’s change the font size. 
Again, click on one of the letters in the words “THE BIRDS” and select a block of text. Your text should now be highlighted. 
There are two methods to increase or decrease font size.
First method:
Use the buttons to increase or to decrease
Second method :
Use the Font size button to specify the desired size. Click inside the box and erase the number it contains by using DELETE or BACKSPACE. Enter the value you want and press ENTER.
Use the first method to increase the size of the highlighted text to 80. Highlight the text in the second box and increase its size to 48.Click outside the text box.
c) Changing the colour of the text. 
Select the text “THE BIRDS”. 
Click on this button and select a colour that is not displayed by clicking on More Font Colors... 
Select the fourth box from the left starting from center, as seen in the image:
Click outside the text box. 
d) Changing the font. 
Select the text “THE BIRDS”. 
Click on this button and choose the
Britannic Bold font.
Click outside the text box.

e) Adding bold and italic. 
Select the text “THE BIRDS”.
Click on the   button and on the button.
Click outside the text box.
After making all the above changes, your first slide should look like this:
