| Not
Enough Memory |
| |
An
Out of Memory error indicates the computer is doing
more work than it can ponder with the installed
hardware. The error might occur while a program
is running or when you attempt to start a program,
especially if multiple programs are running.
| |
Programs
running on the computer are processed in the computer
memory. You can run more and bigger programs with
more memory. Memory is measured in megabytes (MB).
It is typical to have 32 or 64 MB to work comfortably.

How
do I correct the error?
| |
Sometimes
a program requires more memory than is available
at the time you try to start the program. If other
programs are running, they are using memory. Try
closing some or all other program before starting
the program that likes to dominate your computer
memory.
| |
A
way to solve this problem often is to buy more memory
for your computer. As this is not always immediately
feasible, try the following:
| |
Close programs:
| |
1. Click
"Exit" or "Close" on the File menu in the program.
2. If
the program does not have Exit or Close options,
RIGHT-click the program’s icon on
the taskbar. Click "Close."
| |
Sometimes
a program does not release the memory it was using,
even after you stop or exit the program. Restart
the computer to release the memory.
| |
Restart the computer:
| |
1. Click
"Shut Down…" on the Start menu.
2. Click
"Restart."
3. Click
"OK."
