| Backing
Up a Disk |
| |
|
Backing
up a disk is making a copy of the information on
the disk to be stored in place different from the
original.
|
| |
| When
would I back up a disk? |
| |
|
Back
up information on a floppy disk, CD-ROM or on a
hard disk drive as a protection against loss or
damage to the original data. Occasionally, hardware
stops working properly. Programs and documents can
become corrupted, meaning they are no longer usable
or accessible. In addition to hardware and software
failures, people sometimes unintentionally delete
files. When any of these catastrophes occur, use
a previous "backup" version to restore your work
or application software.
|
| |
|
It
is usually a good idea to store at least two copies
of your work – one on the computer hard disk and
another on portable media, such as floppy disks,
CD-ROM, or backup tapes.

up are both visible on the screen. |
