The Scroll Bar

A scroll bar is a sliding button used to move the content of a window vertically or horizontally. The vertical scroll bar looks like an elevator shaft along the side of the window.

When do I use the scroll bar?

Scroll bars appear automatically in many programs when the content fills more space than the dimensions of the window allow. Use scroll bars to view the portion located outside the borders of the window.

How do I use the scroll bar?

Scroll horizontally in a window:

1.     Locate the vertical scroll bar along the right side of a window.

2.     Click the black triangle at the top of the scroll bar to move up incrementally in the         window. (Hold the mouse button to continue moving.)

3.     Click the black triangle at the bottom of the scroll bar to move down incrementally in         the window. (Hold the mouse button to continue moving.)

4.     Press and HOLD the mouse button on the sliding button between the two ends of the         scroll bar.

5.     While holding the mouse button, slide the mouse forward and backward on the mouse         pad. The scroll bar slider and window content follows your motion.
