Retrieving Deleted Items from the Recycle Bin

Deleting items places them in the Recycle Bin temporary storage. Copies of the items are stored until the Recycle Bin is emptied. Until then, retrieve or rescue lost items.

When would I retrieve deleted items from the Recycle Bin?

Retrieve items from the Recycle Bin when you need an item previously deleted. This can be useful if files are erroneously edited or corrupted. Backing up files is a better way to restore lost or damaged files.

How do I retrieve deleted items from the Recycle Bin?

Retrieve deleted items from the Recycle Bin:

1.     Double-click "Recycle Bin" on the desktop

2.     Click "Restore" on the File menu.

3.     (If another item of the same name exists in the original location, a message box         asks if you want to replace it with the restored version. Click "Yes" if you wish
        to overwrite the item.)
