Changing Font, Style and Attributes of Characters

A character font is an assortment of characters that are instrumental in personalizing your text. Each character font has its own character type and size. The choice of fonts varies according to the type of printer you use.

To change a font, you must first select the text you want to modify and then use the Font function in the Format menu. This option will display the following dialogue box:

Exercise 3

Let`s take the document ACADIA 1, which should still be displayed on screen, and make the following changes to the text:

  • The words <<France>> and <<Acadia>> should be set in bold.

  • The words from <<Florida to Newfoundland>> should be set in italics.

  • The word <<first>> should be double underlined.

  • Select the ARIAL character font (if available) for the entire text.

  • Change character size to 13.

  • The first paragraph should be centred between the left and right margins.

Once you have completed the above changes, your text should look like this:

We owe the toponym Acadia to a Florentine who served the king of France and who died somewhere in the Caribbean, eaten by cannibals...

Giovanni da Verrazzano was the first European to navigate and explore the North American coast from Florida to Newfoundland. At least, he was the first to have left us an original account of his discoveries.

Update your document to save the most recent changes. Since we are only updating this document, the file name, ACADIA 1 will remain the same.
