MS-Word

Inserting and Overwriting Characters

The WORD word-processing package is set by default at the Insert mode. For example, if you move the cursor to the first letter of any word and type in the letter U, the word will move to the right to allow you to insert the letter U.

You also have the option of using the Overwrite mode, which allows you to type over the characters without moving the letters to the right of the cursor. To switch to the Overwrite mode, press on the INSERT key. Note that the letters OVR in the status bar are now in bold, which indicates that you are in the Overwrite mode. To switch back to the Insert mode, simply press on the INSERT key.
